What’s New with Avid Learning: Winter 2026 Updates
As an Avid Learning Partner, Altered Images works closely with Avid to support educators, instructors, and institutions delivering industry-ready training. This winter, Avid has introduced a series of meaningful updates designed to improve transparency, flexibility, and student success across the Avid Learning ecosystem.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s new — and why it matters.
A New “What’s New with Avid Learning” Hub
Avid has launched a dedicated “What’s New with Avid Learning” page on Avid.com, giving partners and instructors a single, central place to stay up to date.
This hub will be used for:
Programme updates and announcements
Curriculum and certification improvements
Ongoing enhancements across Avid Learning
For Avid Learning Partners and Certified Instructors, it’s now easier than ever to keep track of changes and share the latest information with students.
Open Book Exams Introduced
In response to partner feedback, Avid is introducing Open Book Exams as an optional assessment format.
This change is designed to:
Make exams more approachable
Support higher student success rates
Give instructors greater flexibility in how certifications are delivered
The traditional exam format remains available, allowing instructors to choose the approach that best suits their classroom and learners.
PT205D (2025): Pro Tools | Dolby Atmos Production I
Avid has released PT205D (2025) — the first major update to the Dolby Atmos curriculum since 2022.
Key highlights:
Updated course content reflecting modern Dolby Atmos workflows
Fully enriched eLearning experience
Available immediately via Avid Learning Central for subscribers
Accessible to Avid Certified Instructors via the ACI Portal, with no subscription required
This update ensures learners are working with current tools and techniques used in professional immersive audio production.
Avid Academy at Glasgow City College
Avid recently hosted an Avid Academy event at Glasgow City College, featuring editors from the hit series Slow Horses.
Students gained real-world insight into:
Professional editorial workflows
Media Composer techniques used in broadcast drama
The realities of working in high-end post-production
The full session is now available on Avid Learning Central, making it a valuable resource for educators and students alike.
Looking Ahead
Avid will continue sharing updates through its bi-monthly partner newsletter, reinforcing its commitment to open communication and continuous improvement.
At Altered Images, we’re proud to support Avid Learning Partners and Certified Instructors with training, systems, and expertise that help bridge education and industry.
