Information regarding Avid product and software support for Windows 7 after January 2020

What is Avid’s policy regarding support of Windows 7 now that Microsoft as ended support as of January 2020?
On January 14, 2020, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7. This means that they will no longer offer security updates or technical support for systems running Windows 7 (Win 7.) In light of this, Avid will also stop testing and qualifying our software products on Win 7.

The table below documents the last software version to support Windows 7 by-product. Customers that are running versions of software that still support Win 7 and have active support/maintenance plans will c will still be able to create a Support case to receive help from Avid Customer Care, however, we cannot guarantee we can resolve their issue.

Customers still running Win 7 should be encouraged to upgrade to Windows 10 and may be asked to do so in order to resolve a Customer Care issue.

  • Media Composer 2019.12        *New 2018.12.x releases will continue to support Win 7, although Win 7-related bugs may not be resolved
  • Sibelius 2019.12
  • Avid NEXIS 2019.12
  • Pro Tools 12.8.2        *Released in October 2017
