IBC 2025 — Our full round-up: favourite finds and what they mean for your business
IBC 2025 was packed with real, practical advances for storage, production, live sports, review workflows and on-the-go content creation. Below are some of our favourite finds from this year’s show.
1. Avid — Content Core
What it is: A cloud-native content-data platform that treats media as interconnected data (identity, ingest, storage, metadata, rights, orchestration) rather than isolated files. Announced and showcased at IBC 2025.
Why it matters: Helps large newsrooms, studios and post houses unify fragmented asset silos, speeds discovery with AI search/recommendations, and supports hybrid cloud/on-prem workflows — useful for organisations that need traceability and monetisation of large archives.
2. EditShare — New NVMe Ultimate EFS Nodes
What it is: Expanded Ultimate EFS NVMe portfolio (flagship all-NVMe nodes such as Ultimate 24 NVMe Node, hybrid NVMe/HDD options and portable EFS Field updates) designed for uncompressed/file-per-frame workflows and 8K finishing. Some NVMe nodes are shipping now; others previewed at IBC.
Why it matters: Extreme read/write bandwidth for VFX, color grading and DI while offering hybrid choices to balance cost vs capacity — a big benefit to post houses and educational facilities running high-res workflows.
3. Strada — On-prem access + Mobile features
What it is: Strada showed updates focused on enabling teams to “ditch the cloud” while keeping files accessible from anywhere — new mobile capabilities and workflow features aimed at remote/hybrid collaboration. (Coverage and product previews at IBC.)
Why it matters: Useful where data sovereignty, cost or bandwidth make cloud uploads impractical — Strada’s model keeps files on your infrastructure while offering remote access and project management via mobile (launching Oct 1st).
4. BirdDog — MAKI Live (creator camera) + new XL Ultra PTZ & X Series
What it is: BirdDog expanded both creator and broadcast lines — MAKI Live (portable streaming camera for creators), and new PTZ/X-series cameras including the high-end XL Ultra and rugged outdoor O4 / X1 30× announcements. BirdDog showcased workflow integration (NDI, NDI-HX, AI tracking).
Why it matters: From social creators to full broadcast studios — BirdDog’s mix of approachable creator tools and cinema-grade PTZs lets organisations scale production quality while keeping modern IP/NDI workflows.
5. Ross Video — NRG routing & media I/O
What it is: Ross launched NRG, a next-generation SDI routing platform focused on simplifying live production routing and media I/O at a competitive price point. Demonstrated at IBC.
Why it matters: For facilities upgrading routing or adding multiview/I/O capacity, NRG offers Ross reliability without top-tier pricing — a practical option for regional broadcasters and education labs.
6. Sony — PXW-Z300 XDCAM handheld camcorder
What it is: Sony’s new flagship handheld XDCAM: three 1/2-inch 4K Exmor R CMOS sensors, 17× optical zoom, AI-assisted autofocus, BIONZ XR processing, flexible accessory mounting and embedded digital signatures (video authentication). Announced for release in 2025.
Why it matters: Targets newsgathering and ENG — high image quality, modern networking/streaming options, plus content authentication (important for verification workflows). Great for field crews and campus production.
7. Cinedeck — ConneX (processing & hub updates)
What it is: ConneX is Cinedeck’s scalable media processing platform; Cinedeck showed ongoing ConneX Hub updates (new integrations, e.g., Adobe Frame.io) and enterprise features at shows leading up to IBC.
Why it matters: For ingest, conform, validation and delivery automation — ConneX helps broadcasters and post houses offload manual media-processing tasks and integrate with cloud/asset platforms.
8. iodyne — Pro Mini (secure portable NVMe)
What it is: Pro Mini is iodyne’s portable NVMe/TB4 drive with advanced security: XTS-AES-256 encryption, Device Passkeys (secure passkey authentication), NFC Tap-to-Unlock, Fleet Management and camera tethering capabilities.
Why it matters: Portable, fast and strongly secure media capture for on-set shoots, with convenient unlock/auth options (NFC/passkeys) that streamline multi-operator workflows while protecting media.
9. GB Labs — NebulaNAS Nitro (FastNAS Gen-3)
What it is: GB Labs showcased NebulaNAS Nitro — a hardware accelerator / shared cache for cloud and NAS workflows, plus FastNAS Gen-3 and CORE 5.5 OS updates. NebulaNAS Nitro improves shared performance for collaborative editing.
Why it matters: Reduces cloud re-downloads and improves multi-user file availability (handy for remote teams and schools with distributed editors), and offers a performance boost for mixed cloud/on-prem setups.
10. MRMC — Cinebot Nano (portable motion control)
What it is: MRMC’s Cinebot Nano is a compact 9-axis motion-control robot (≈1m reach, ~7kg payload) designed for on-location and small studio use — foldable into travel cases with Flair Lite & PushMoco controls. It was unveiled and demoed around IBC.
Why it matters: Brings pro-grade repeatable camera moves to small crews, commercials, product shoots and content creators at a significantly lower entry price than studio Cinebots.
11. TrueNAS — F-Series (all-NVMe, up to 30 GB/s)
What it is: TrueNAS F-Series are all-NVMe storage nodes delivering very high throughput (manufacturer-spec up to ~30 GB/s), dense NVMe capacity and enterprise HA. Targeted at high-performance media workloads.
Why it matters: Ideal for centralised finishing farms, VFX, and any environment demanding ultra-low latency and very high sustained bandwidth.
12. Adder — IP KVM APIs & AdderView Matrix enhancements
What it is: Adder expanded built-in APIs for the ADDERView® Matrix range, enabling automation and integration (control room automation, wall control, remote access).
Why it matters: Makes KVM/IP infrastructures programmable and integrable into broadcast control systems — valuable for remote production and automation projects.
13. LucidLink — TeamCache (on-site cache for enterprise)
What it is: TeamCache is an on-site caching appliance for LucidLink Enterprise that delivers local-class performance to distributed teams while keeping files accessible in the cloud model. Announced at IBC 2025.
Why it matters: Addresses the common remote/work-from-home pain point: local performance without full re-uploads — efficient for post, education labs and multi-site broadcasters.
14. Blackmagic Design — DaVinci Resolve 20.1 (Apple Vision Pro / Immersive)
What it is: Resolve 20.1 adds full Apple Immersive Video (Apple Vision Pro) workflows: edit/grade/VFX, spatial audio mixing and delivery pipelines for immersive formats. Blackmagic positioned Resolve as end-to-end for Vision Pro content.
Why it matters: For teams experimenting with immersive storytelling or campus R&D groups, native support in Resolve removes format friction.
15. Blackmagic Design — DaVinci Resolve 20.2 (ProRes RAW support)
What it is: Resolve 20.2 adds native Apple ProRes RAW support across Resolve & Resolve Studio (and related Blackmagic products), making RAW ProRes workflows simpler to ingest and grade without conversions.
Why it matters: Easier ProRes RAW handling in Resolve reduces transcode steps for documentary, news and production teams.
16. SNS (Studio Network Solutions) — Outpost (review & approval)
What it is: Outpost.cloud is SNS’s newly unveiled review & approval product that integrates with ShareBrowser and allows fast, shareable review links and structured feedback. Announced at IBC 2025.
Why it matters: Speeds the feedback loop with stakeholders and external reviewers — helpful for agencies, education projects and post houses who need fast approvals without complex provisioning.
17. TimeInPixels — Nobe OmniScope
What it is: Nobe OmniScope is a modern, GPU-accelerated set of video scopes (waveforms, vectors, false color, CIE plots, etc.) with customizable layouts, StreamDeck support and HDR features. Updated versions were showcased at IBC.
Why it matters: Lightweight, modern scope tools accelerate color workflows for both indie finishers and teaching labs.
18. Kiloview — NDI 6.3 support (N50 / N60 converters)
What it is: Kiloview demonstrated N50/N60 converters updated for NDI 6.3, enabling ultra-low latency (<1 frame), 4K HDR 10-bit and enhanced NDI Bridge capabilities across hybrid IP/SDI workflows.
Why it matters: NDI 6.3 provides better multi-protocol flexibility and lower latency — important for campus streaming, intercom/live remote workflows and modern production facilities.
19. Leader-Phabrix — NDI Checker (test & measurement)
What it is: Leader/PHABRIX showcased NDI Checker — diagnostics software for NDI networks that provides visibility, troubleshooting and signal health monitoring for IP/NDI systems.
Why it matters: As studios migrate to IP/NDI, robust test & measurement tools are critical to avoid intermittent NDI issues and ensure clean delivery in live and distributed production.
20. Netgear — Four new M4350 managed switches
What it is: Netgear expanded the M4350 Pro-AV managed switch family with four new models tuned for SMPTE/ST-2110 and AV-over-IP broadcast installations (added features for bandwidth, precision timing and AV telemetry).
Why it matters: Network backbone hardware targeted to broadcast/AV makes large-scale IP-based productions and campus AV more reliable and easier to manage.
21. FOR-A (with Nippon TV) — viztrick AiDi (AiDi sports AI)
What it is: viztrick AiDi is an on-device AI sports graphics/analysis package (player tracking, speed/distance, 2.5D drawing, automatic scoreboard recognition and player profile display) introduced at IBC in collaboration with Nippon TV. Processing happens locally for low latency and reliability.
Why it matters: Sports producers get automated, accurate graphics and analytics without relying on cloud connectivity — a big win for remote and OB sports productions.
22. Hedge — EditReady updates (DNxHR + Mimiq workspaces)
What it is: Hedge’s recent updates to EditReady include DNxHR support and expanded Mimiq workspace features (managed workspaces, improved workflow integration). Announced in Hedge’s September news.
Why it matters: Easier DNxHR transcodes and better Mimiq workspace management speed editorial hand-offs and archive ingest for Avid-centric teams.
23. StorageDNA — AI Link for DNAfabric
What it is: AI Link (part of DNAfabric) is StorageDNA’s new multi-vendor AI pipeline connector that links legacy storage and archives to multiple AI providers (Twelve Labs, AWS, Azure, Overcast, etc.) so you can rapidly index and enrich archives. Demoed/announced at IBC.
Why it matters: Enables archive-first AI workflows (searchable proxies, speech-to-text, automated tagging) without migrating data — powerful for large broadcasters and archives.
24. Archiware — P5 v8.0 (preview)
What it is: Archiware previewed P5 v8.0 at IBC 2025 with updated MAM integration, AI-friendly features and enhanced archive/backup workflows for media environments. Full release info and datasheets were previewed at the show.
Why it matters: Archiving/restore workflows remain critical to any media operation — v8 adds features that simplify metadata workflows, security and integration with modern toolchains.
