Setup & Management

SymplyWORKSPACE XE is delivered ready to go with RAID protection enabled, file system configured, and extensively tested. It’s designed to be ready to use in under ten minutes from unboxing to power on. No in-depth knowledge of Ethernet networking is required: simply login into the management console, install the driver for your operating system, and use our connection app (macOS, Windows, and Linux) to connect to the shared volume. And you’re done. A step-by-step guide is provided via our comprehensive online support portal, but rest assured that technical support is just a phone call away.

Ongoing management of the WORKSPACE XE is incredibly simple with built-in management tools that maintain the performance of the system, and optional advanced storage management tools that enable you to tier data to free up capacity for current projects.
Performance

SymplyWORKSPACE XE features a high performance Intel Xeon processor and the latest hybrid tri-mode RAID engine. It’s also designed specifically for creative professionals to allow them to get the job done without compromising HD or 4K workflows. Choose from all-HDD systems for performant high capacity storage, all-NVMe for ultra high-performance RAW workflows, or a combination of HDD and NVMe for the best of both worlds.

With options for RAID 5 or RAID 6 to ensure data protection, hot-swap disk modules, enterprise grade hard drives and NVMe drives, hot-swappable redundant SSD for the OS and software apps, WORKSPACE XE is highly resilient – just as you would expect from a Symply product.

SymplyWORKSPACE XE vs Desktop NAS

WORKSPACE XE uses an IP SAN protocol for more efficient block-level connectivity over high-speed Ethernet LAN networks, or direct connection from the WORKSPACE XE to hosts made possible by extensive connectivity on the appliance. By controlling and optimizing both ends of the protocol WORKSPACE XE can provide a faster and more reliable connection, utilizing more of the available Ethernet bandwidth without the latency usually associated with NAS systems.

In addition to providing efficient, reliable, and low latency connectivity to cross-platform clients the shared storage from the WORKSPACE XE is also presented to clients as a locally attached device versus a network share, bringing better compatibility to many creative applications that have a preference to work with locally attached devices.
